One such success story is Canon, an ambitious and determined young student from Japan who began her journey in the British education system by undertaking her Pre-GCSE language preparation at Bishopstrow College. Today, she’s an undergraduate student of veterinary medicine at the prestigious Royal Veterinary College in London.
Finding Her Path: From Bishopstrow to Lancing College
After completing her time at Bishopstrow College, Canon went on to study Biology, Chemistry, and Maths for her A-Levels at one of our Partner Schools, Lancing College. Her strong academic foundation and growing confidence enabled her to take on new challenges, leading her to pursue her passion for veterinary medicine.
When asked about her time at Bishopstrow, Canon expressed heartfelt gratitude for the holistic support that she received. “The holistic support provided by Bishopstrow allowed me to smoothly transition to the lifestyle of a British boarding school. Without the experience, I would not be where I am.” she shares. Her success in GCSEs was a huge confidence boost, while leadership experiences, like being Head of House at Bishopstrow, prepared her for future leadership roles, including becoming Head of School at Lancing College.

Daily communication in English with staff and friends helped her language skills quickly develop, while everyday PE sessions became a highlight of her routine.
