It was a great honour to welcome parents, guests and Simon Morris, Headmaster of Kingswood School, Bath as our guest speaker to Bishopstrow College’s Graduation Day as the Principal of Bishopstrow College on its tenth anniversary. The weather was glorious and allowed us to enjoy an outside ceremony and birthday cake!
In our review of the year which included an Ofsted and a British Council Inspection, we also recognised the academic success of the college in our English Language examinations. Bishopstrow College has had the best results ever with 100% of students achieving the top two grades in KET and FCE. The opportunity to participate in competitive fixtures is one which the college has fully endorsed this year and the students have flourished – exposing them to the excitement and pressures of competitive sport in English education for the first time. But there are also an equally impressive group of young people, who are far greater in number, who gain awards for effort if not achievement, who volunteer to help, raising money for charity and supporting others in their Houses.
At this time of year it is always a time for reflection and good-byes. To the leavers at the graduation, we send our very best wishes. If they carry the 5 virtues of the college with them in life of being honest, kind, organized, hard working, and a team player they will do well.
Nelson Mandela once said; “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Our students I have no doubt, will do exactly that.
